Reminders for a Burnt Out Mama
Read this if you’re feeling like you’re at the end of your rope.
Hey, mama. If you’re reading this, I imagine you’re feeling drained, overwhelmed, and straight out of patience. There are times that it can feel like motherhood takes everything you have, and then some. So grab a water, a snack, maybeeeee a coffee, and settle in.
YOU are the parent your child needs
During hard moments, it can be so easy to fall into the belief that your child would be better off with a parent who is more patient, calm, carefree, or insert any other adjective here. But the truth is, your child needs YOU. In all of your imperfection, messy moments, and lows, you are the best person for your child.
You Don’t Have to Be Perfect
You may be comparing yourself to the polished and (seemingly) perfect moms you see on the internet or out and about. Know that no parent is perfect, and that perfection isn’t a realistic expectation. In fact, it’s beneficial to be imperfect around your kids. This gives you the opportunity to model that it’s okay to make mistakes, take accountability for our not-so-great moments, and come back together.
It’s Okay to Feel…
Like you don’t want to do it right now, like you don’t know what you’re doing, like you just want to curl back in bed and not face the responsibilities of parenthood today, and so on
NONE of these thoughts or feelings make you a bad mom. Allow yourself to space to feel what you need to without unnecessary shame and judgment.
