FAQs

How Do I get Started?

To get started, complete a contact form and I will be in touch as soon as possible. From there, we can schedule a free 15 minute discovery call to learn more about one another and schedule our first session!

What can I expect sessions to be like?

It’s totally normal if you’re feeling a little unsure about beginning therapy—it’s a big step!

All sessions are being held via telehealth. You can expect our first session to be 60 minutes and geared toward getting to know one another, gather history, and learn more about what you’re needing.

After, you can plan to meet weekly for 45-50 minutes. During those sessions, we work on your identified goals and celebrate accomplishments along the way.

How Do I Verify My Out of Network Benefits?

To verify your out of network benefits:

  • Call your insurance provider’s member services phone number

  • Ask the representative the following:

    • Do I have out of network benefits for routine outpatient mental health (performed in an office setting)?

    • If so, what is the deductible?

    • What is the coinsurance percentage?

    • What have I met toward my deductible?

Is Online Therapy Right for Me?

Many clients find that teletherapy is just as effective for them as meeting in the office.

In fact, there can be many benefits to online therapy, including:

  • more flexibility to meet (e.g. during lunch breaks, after the kids go to sleep)

  • sessions can be from anywhere in New York State

  • no missed sessions due to inclement weather (as long as power and wifi are available)

  • not having to worry about traffic, parking, or sitting in a waiting room

  • being in the comfort of your own space

With that said, teletherapy isn’t the perfect fit for everyone.

You may want to consider in-person therapy if:

  • you don’t have reliable internet connection or access to electronics

  • you don’t have a space to meet where you can feel comfortable talking about sensitive topics

  • you are struggling with severe symptoms and/or safety is a concern

  • you feel strongly about wanting to be in the same physical space as your therapist
